How to shop at Walgreens

You can buy everyday items for pennies at Walgreens if you shop there using coupons. They will accept one store coupon and one manufacturer's coupon per item. They also will give out Register Rewards on some items (Hereby known as RR).  RR count as a coupon and print at the register (Most cashier's will let you buy your RR items in more than one transaction. Be mindful of people behind you though and maybe let them go ahead of you in between). RR will not print if you pay for the same item you already received a RR on. So, if you received a $1 RR on Crest toothpaste and you buy another tube of Crest toothpaste on another transaction and pay with the $1 Crest RR, you will not receive another $1 RR for buying Crest. That's where multiple transactions come in. Buy 1 tube of Crest and alternate it with Huggies diapers that also have a $1 RR for that week. Don't forget to use your Huggies manufacturer's coupon and Crest manufacturer's coupon also!
There is a glitch...you have to have the same number of items as coupons. RR count as a coupon. Sometimes I have to find "filler" items to make the number equal. I find items for less than 50 cents. If you're buying more items than coupons then you don't need a filler.
Walgreens also has monthly coupon books that you can pick up in store. I scan the ad and then see if any of the monthly coupons will make an item on sale cheaper. I have purchased Huggies baby wipes for free when stacking the sale price with the monthly coupon book coupon and a manufacturer's coupon.
Walgreens can be fun when you save 75-90% off your purchase. Yesterday my cashier said she wished she could shop there like I do. I need to show her this blog...

  1. The only drawback to those lovely RR's that I've found is that you can't use them on like items. For example, I can't use a Kimberly Clark RR on a Huggies RR item which would usually spit out another RR. So I like to stack those up and use them on unrelated items so that I always get all of my owed RR's. MAde that mistake a couple times in the past!!
CVS if you have one near you, their Extra BUcks are good on anything anytime. So even though they can be more expensive, I like to watch and sometimes can get those fab deals too!
    Love your new blog Mandi!

  2. I didn't realize that they won't print by brand either. I believe that I've used a previous P&G RR to get Crest and the RR printed but maybe I didn't. That's good to know! We don't have a CVS close. Rite-Aid either. Makes me mad sometimes to see their deals! Thanks for reading Em!
